Kuwait Requested L-100-30 Hercules Upgrade
The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency has notified Congress of a possible Foreign Military Sale to Kuwait. The Government of Kuwait wants to upgrade three of its Lockheed L-100-30 aircraft (a commercial version of the Lockheed C-130 Hercules). The upgrade is neccessary to extend the useful life of the aircraft. The contract might be worth some USD 240 Million if all associated equipment and support is included.
The L-100-30 Hercules transports are currently being operated by Kuwait Air Force's 41 Transport Squadron at Ahmed al Jaber air base. Four L-100-30 Hercules transport aircraft were delivered in 1983, three are remaining in service today.
