On November 9, 2007, AERO Vodochody announced it has completed the overhaul of last batch of L-59T advanced training and light attack aircraft for the Tunisian Air Force. The last out of a total of nine L-59T aircraft arrived in Tunisia on November 8, 2007. The contract on overhauls of the last L-59T aircraft signed in 2006 followed the overhaul of six aircraft in two phases in the 2003 – 2006 period.

The L-59T aircraft were delivered to the Tunisian Republic in the years 1995 – 1996. Based on the successful L-39 basic jet trainer, the L-59 advanced jet trainer has a more powerful engine and was fitted with advanced avionics. The L-59 can also be used in the light attack role armed with bombs and rockets.
