USAF Single-ship Demos Reduced to F-22 Only for 2012 Air Shows
01 Dec 2011
The U.S. Air Force's Air Combat Command (ACC) issued a statement that it will reduce its single-ship airshow demo teams facing fiscal constraints. Historically sponsoring six teams, A-10 East & West, F-16 East & West, F-15E and F-22, only the F-22 demonstration team will perform at up to 20 shows for the 2012 season.
Reducing the number of single-ship demonstration teams enables the ACC to reallocate more than 900 sorties to our wings so they can maximize their flying hours for combat readiness training, providing an increase in more than 25 combat-ready fighter pilots.
In addition to the F-22 demonstration team, the Thunderbirds are set to complete a full season next year.
