Introduction |
|||
Time for a decent newsletter again! Everyone
thanks for joining the newsletter and visitting my website. Thanks for the
support and reactions! The more the better, you people keep me going.
Especially this past month, I have been working hard on the upgrade
to v4. | |||
VERSION 4
RELEASED |
|||
Today, I have upgraded the website to the new
version. Unfortunately I had to close down the website for the day. I have
been uploading all the upgraded pages and pictures as well. Now what has
changed in version 4?
- No more frames! The layout of the
website stays the same, but I have added the menu and submenu to all the
pages. This means that you can now directly link to any page of the
website without losing the navigation. You are now able to bookmark every
single page e.g. http://www.milavia.net/aircraft/amx/amx_specs.htm
- Increase traffic? I have added meta
tag information for each aircraft. I am now able to submit each aircraft
section to the search engines. I hope this will increase
traffic.
- New menu! I have simplified the menu,
so it takes less time to load. It is 3-4 times smaller than it used to be.
Maybe less fun than before, but nice design as well.
- Intro gone. Sorry, but I deleted the
intro in this version. More and more internet surfer do not wish to wait
for intro's to load or to complete. If you don't agree, let me know and if
many of you agree I will add an introduction movie anyway!
- Bigger and better. A lot of the
pictures are now about 10% bigger resolution than the used to
be. For some aircraft I have added more or
new pictures.
- Specials! Added a special section,
this offers more flexibility than the old article section. You will find
articles, pictorials, walk-arounds, guides, etcetera in this section once
I have added some stuff. It remains empty for now. If you think you have
anything interesting for the new section, let me know!
- Changed layout. I have changed the
layout of the downloads page to reduce the number of clicks needed to get
your stuff.
Let me know what you think about the new
design!
Please report any bugs or mistakes. If you have any
complaints about the new design, e-mal me as well at webmaster@milavia.net. I
appreciate your feedback.

A few news stories from
September/October:
SPAIN WILL GET THE

The Spanish Council of Ministers authorised the purchase
of 24 Eurocopter Tiger HAD combat helicopters. The HAD variant is a
Support and Suppression Helicopters, a new version of the helicopter with
new engines and Trigat anti-tank missiles. The Tigers are to be delivered
to the Spanish Army in 2007. Spanish industry will manufacture the read
fuselages of all Tigers produced, becoming a partner in Eurocopter GmbH. A
total of 206 Tiger helicopters are now on order, namely 80 for France, 80
for Germany, 22 for Australia and now 24 for the Spanish
Army.
INDIA OPTS FOR HAWK
The Indian government finally authorised the purchase of
the BAE Systems Hawk. 66 Hawks will be purchased to serve as the Indian
Air Force's Advanced Jet Trainer. 24 of these will be built by BAE
Systems, the remainder will be manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd
(HAL) at Bangalore. The aircraft will be the Hawk Mk.115Y, which is an
advanced development of the Hawk Mk.100 series. It will be equipped with a
'glass' cockpit, multi function displays, hands-on-throttle-and-stick
(HOTAS). The Hawk are to secure the quality of training for IAF pilots.
Investigation showed that inadequate training has been the cause for the
recently high attrition rate of IAF fighters.
C-9 NIGHTINGALE RETIREMENT
The USAF Medical Transport fleet of C-9A
Nightingales are set for retirement since the decision in July 2003. On
the 27th of September the last C-9A flew its final trip from Ramstein AB

deactivated on October 1.

31 Squadron, is the Tiger squadrons of the
Belgian Air Component (Air Force of Belgium). The squadrons operates the
F-16 Fighting Falcon from Kleine Brogel Airbase. 31 Squadrons is always
present at the N.A.T.O. Tiger Meet with at least one F-16 given
a beautiful Tiger art work. On this website you can find pictures,
patches and wallpapers of the Tigers. There is also a history of the
squadron as well as some pictures of the old F-104 Starfighter in Tiger

visit!

Quiz
Results |
|||
The correct answer to the October 2003
quiz was Dassault-Brequet Dornier Alpha Jet of the Portugese Air
Force. The following visitors submitted the correct answer.
Congratulations!
Less than 50% submitted the correct answer,
so this month's quiz will be a bit easier. A least for those that know
their aircraft. Check out the new quiz at http://www.milavia.net/quiz

Picture
of the Month |

Picture of this month is a very recent
picture of the F/A-22 Raptor. Seen here on its way to its home
base, the aircraft had just received its paint job. In the update I have
added this pictures and more like it to the F/A-22 gallery, http://www.milavia.net/aircraft/f-22/f-22_pics.htm

A Word
from the Webmaster |
|||
Good news this month, I finally have
completed the structural redesign of version 4. I still need to do some of
the pages. Unfortunately exams are getting nearer. I am afraid I can not
do much work for November.
Some things that I want to get done in November
are:
- converting air force pictorials to v4
completely
- adding air force reports/overviews for the Netherlands
and Venezuela
- completing construction of the F-16 picture
galleries
- at least add one item to the new specials
section
- start promoting
the website
Let me know what you think about the new
design,
Niels Hillebrand
