Glenn E. Bloore visited the 2005 Air Show at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, in San Diego California on October 14th, 2005. Previously known as Naval Air Station Miramar and Fightertown USA, Miramar used to host the famous Navy Fighter Weapons School ('TOPGUN') and F-14 Tomcat squadrons of the Fighter Wing Pacific. After Top Gun, E-2 and F-14 squadrons moved out, the base officially became Marine Corps Air Station Miramar on 01 October 1997, because of the DoD Realignment Program. MCAS Miramar took over assets from MCAS El Toro and Tustin which were closed.

MCAS Miramar now supports the Fleet Marine Force including Third Marine Aircraft Wing. The base is home to a total of about 250 aircraft and 12,000 military and civilian personnel. Eight F/A-18C/D Hornet squadrons, four CH-46 Sea Knight helicopter squadrons, four CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter squadrons, one KC-130 transport and refueling squadron, and nine station support aircraft are stationed at the base.

The 2005 Miramar Air Show celebrated its 50th Anniversary on October 14th, 15th & 16th. The show was visited by over 750,000 people. See the Miramar AirShow website for more information.
