Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT) is the jet aerobatic team of the Indian Air Force (IAF). Formed in 1996, the team flew nine white and orange HJT-16 Kiran Mk.2 jets with orange, green, blue and white smoke generators at approximately 30 shows per year. The team was disbanded in 2011 due to a severe lack of training aircraft but were re-established in 2015 with a fleet of 20 Hawk Advanced Jet Trainers (AJT). Their first display saw them perform basic formation changes with four jets, expanding to six the following year. Eventually, the team will perform full aerobatic routines with 9 Hawks.
