AERO Vodochody starts work on Bulgarian L-39ZA
30 Jan 2006
AERO Vodochody has launched the life extension program for 12 Bulgarian Air Force L-39ZA jet trainers, as well as the delivery of spare parts for the aircraft, under a contract signed in 2005.
AERO delivered 36 L-39ZA aircraft to Bulgaria between 1987-1990.
In 2004, AERO changed its strategy and re-entered the rework and upgrade market for its widely used L-39/L-59 jet trainers. The company has since completed general overhauls on 25 Thai L-39ZA, life extension program on eight Hungarian L-39ZO, overhauls on three Tunesian L-59T, and signed contracts for the general overhaul of ten Algerian Air Force L-39C/ZA and life-time support for the Czech Air Force fleet of L-39 and L-159 aircraft.
