21 Sep4 FW celebrates 75 years of airpower
As the youngest branch of the Armed Forces, the U.S. Air Force, celebrated its 70th birthday, the 4th Fighter Wing celebrated its 75th anniversary with a weekend of celebratory events and ceremonies.
15 JunSaab Gripen E First Flight
At 10:32 on Thursday June 15, Gripen E took off on its maiden flight, flown by a Saab test pilot. The aircraft (designation 39-8) left from Saab’s airfield in Linköping, Sweden and flew over the eastern parts of Östergötland for 40 minutes. During the flight, the aircraft carried out a number of actions to demonstrate various test criteria including the retracting and extending of the landing gear.
26 MayAir National Guard paint facility completes 149th F-16 heritage paint scheme
A U.S. Air Force F-16 assigned to the 149th Fighter Wing, Texas Air National Guard, was painted with World War II heritage markings by the Air National Guard Paint Facility in Sioux City, Iowa.
