Romania Orders Seven C-27J Transport Aircraft
Alenia Aeronautica and Romtechnica, National Company for Foreign Trade of the Romanian Ministry of Defence, signed a contract for seven C-27J military transport aircraft on December 7, 2007. The contract also includes pilot training, initial logistics support, and a Bucharest based flight simulator. Total value is around EUR 217 million. The first aircraft will be delivered by the end of 2008.
The Romanian Air Force had selected Alenia's twin-engine tactical transport aircraft in November last year, preferring it to the EADS CASA C-295M on both financial terms and fit to Romania's technical requirements.
